    KNX and Loxone Integration

    Hi everyone,

I am looking into the possibility of integrating KNX and Loxone in a smart project. If I use both systems, is there a way to ensure they work together without compatibility issues?

Is there a need to use any adapters or protocols?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
well, you need a Miniserver and a KNX extension. Further, a gateway (IP or USB) in order to progam the KNX devices. If you have a Gen1 Miniserver (or a Gira X1) you can use this as a gateway.

In a mixed environment I'd recommend to do only the addressing in ETS (inkluding all group adresses you'd like to work with in the Loxone Config) and the whole logic (and visualization) on the Miniserver.

If you haven't bought any KNX devices yet, I'd recommend to go all-in on Loxone. They are here to stay. I'm fine with other thoughts 😊

    Best,
    Patrick

I think Yes, Loxone supports integration with KNX systems via KNX Extension. You can combine KNX and Loxone efficiently if you use KNX Extension (by Loxone).

I've seen many people try to mix KNX and Loxone to take advantage of both, but in reality, the cost of gateway + configuration + maintenance is sometimes even higher than choosing one main system from the start. Have you considered long-term costs such as maintenance and debugging when errors occur between the two systems, or are you just focusing on the initial deployment?
